Abstract:
Chronic cerebral ischemia (CCI) is a common syndrome that, without adequate treatment, is characterized by a progressive course and worsening cognitive, emotional, motor, and other impairments, ultimately leading to permanent disability. Medications with multimodal neuroprotective effects are indicated for the treatment of patients with CCI. The article presents the results of an analysis of a series of clinical trials of Mexidol and Mexidol Forte in patients with CCI. The effects of the medications on cognitive, emotional, asthenic, autonomic, and other manifestations of CCI are discussed. A conclusion is drawn regarding the appropriateness of sequential use of Mexidol and Mexidol Forte in these patients.

Key words: chronic cerebral ischemia, cognitive impairment, emotional disturbances, Mexidol, treatment.
