Cognitive impairment (CI) encompasses a broad clinical spectrum, ranging from subjective complaints of memory and attention loss to severe dementia. According to the World Health Organization, the prevalence of dementia among individuals aged 60–64 in Europe and America is 0.93–1.05%, among individuals aged 65 and older – 7.97–8.46%, and among individuals aged 90 and older – 36.32–37.95% [1]. Non-dementia CI are much more common in the population; for example, among individuals aged 60 and older, their prevalence is at least 15%, with the number of patients increasing every year [2].

Dementias often manifest well before the diagnosis of F06, and it is at this stage that their further development can be most effectively addressed. Over the next 25 years, the majority of the increase in new cases of dementia and the associated financial burden is projected to occur in low- and middle-income countries [3]. Dementias are a common and clinically significant manifestation of a variety of neurological, vascular, neurodegenerative, and metabolic diseases [4].
