Abstract:
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) kills one and a half million people worldwide each year, and 2.4 million become disabled. The incidence of TBI in various regions of Ukraine ranges from 2.3% to 4.2% per year, and has nearly doubled over the past 10 years. Mortality rates for severe TBI range from 40% to 70%, and among surviving patients, full functional recovery of the central nervous system (CNS) is relatively rare.
