Abstract:
Objective of the study. To study the clinical and psychological profile and quality of life of patients with post-COVID syndrome (PCS). Material and methods. The study included 162 patients aged 24–60 years with a history of confirmed coronavirus infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus and symptoms that formed the basis for the diagnosis of PCS. Patients underwent a neurological and general somatic examination to identify the relevant neurological syndromes. The following were assessed: pain intensity and nature (McGill questionnaire), psychosocial stress level (Holmes-Reye questionnaire), asthenia severity (MFI-20 scale), anxiety level (Spielberger-Khanin questionnaire), and depression (Beck depression scale). Quality of life was assessed using the Russian version of the SF-36 questionnaire. To correct the identified disorders, Mexidol was used at a dose of 500 mg once a day, intravenously by drip for 14 days, followed by Mexidol FORTE 250, 1 tablet 3 times a day for 2 months. Results. A course of treatment with Mexidol in patients with PCS led to a decrease in the severity of subjective and objective symptoms of PCS, asthenic, anxiety and depressive disorders, and improved the patients' quality of life. Conclusion. High efficacy and safety of sequential therapy with Mexidol (intravenously, then orally Mexidol FORTE 250) in patients with PCS were demonstrated. Key words: post-COVID syndrome, SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection, emotional disorders, anxiety, depression, quality of life, Mexidol.
